Strategists Are defined by the way they think AND SOLVE problems
I BELIEVE THE BEST ONES APPLY THAT SAME THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING TO THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES
THE ART OF THE "ALL YOU CAN EAT" BUFFET
I'm a very detail-oriented person and I can add a strategic layer of thinking to anything. This includes eating. Here is a presentation I gave on Chinese buffet strategies.
YOU HAVE TO LEARN THE RULES BEFORE YOU CAN BREAK THEM
I'm a frugal guy and I've been known to find creative ways to save money. While spending my summer in San Francisco, I was able to convert my personal frustrations into learnings for work. As a foodie with no time to cook, I expected to starve. However, within two weeks I had already tried over a half dozen of the city’s restaurants (for free). By setting up three accounts on all of the local delivery services, I could exploit their referral programs. I was able to analyze their landing pages, email marketing tactics, and their personalized recommendations. I documented all of their incentive strategies to use as inspiration for my project on loyalty and CRM programs.
Over the span of the summer, I earned over $300 in referral credits.
The most important lesson I learned was that successful strategies can lie within the details, rather than the big idea. The tech industry taught me to put my strategies under a microscope and prove their value through incremental growth. As advertising becomes more scientific, my ability to use data will make me valuable as a strategist.

One morning I had a conversation with a classmate about the "good ol' days". The time before our needs, wants, emotions, and desires were oversimplified and delivered through a screen. Later that evening there was a significant pop culture moment with the release of a new music video. This ad was our response.
